TOOTH LOSS COMPLICATIONS CAN BE PREVENTED BY A DENTAL IMPLANT RESTORATION

Posted by Dr. Christopherson Jun 07, 2017

When you lose a tooth to a severe dental trauma or extreme tooth decay, it can pose several different complications to your oral health and function. While you might be able to adapt to the decreased ability to chew and any alterations in your appearance, you could still be at a long-term threat of orthodontic issues.

Over the course of time, the decreased dental structure in that area might cause the neighboring teeth to gradually change their orientation. As their alignment continues to change, it could cause excess wear and tear on the tooth enamel, or even lead to chips on the related teeth in your dentition.

Early on, Dr. Tyler Christopherson can prevent these complications and restore the full function of your mouth by performing a dental implant restoration at his, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, clinic.

This requires a minimally invasive oral surgery by a specialist where a titanium dental abutment is inserted into the underlying bone structure. A natural process known as osseointegration will gradually fuse the titanium with the surrounding bone tissues. In time, this will replicate the strength and structure of the tooth’s original root.

When the implant stud is ready, our dentist can start the process of fitting you for a standard crown. After it has been attached to the abutment, your mouth’s function and appearance will be fully restored.

If you live in the Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and you have lost a tooth, you should call 715-952-5920 to set up a dental implant consultation with Dr. Tyler Christopherson.
